Gardendale Celebrates America: Hundreds Gather at Bill Noble Park for Let Freedom Ring

The Gardendale Chamber of Commerce brought ice cream, community, and patriotism to one of the city's most beloved Fourth of July traditions

GARDENDALE, Ala. — June 25th, 2026

Hundreds of Gardendale families poured into Bill Noble Park on the 25th of June, 2026 for the first ever Let Freedom Ring celebration, and the Gardendale Chamber of Commerce was right in the middle of it — serving ice cream, building community, and reminding everyone exactly what makes this city worth celebrating.

The Chamber set up a booth that quickly became one of the most visited spots in the park, serving 8 gallons of vanilla ice cream loaded with red and blue sprinkles to a steady stream of neighbors, friends, and families. The ice cream was gone before 8:15 PM — a testament to the turnout that filled Bill Noble Park well before the fireworks lit up the sky.

A Community Effort From Start to Finish

The Chamber's presence at Let Freedom Ring was made possible by a team of Board Members and Junior Ambassadors who showed up with their families and gave their evening to the community they serve.

Jeremy Adams of GP Agency, Tony Betts of Divine Beauty Supplies, Cindie Davis of Cherry Blossom Events, and Jessica Jordan of Papa Johns Alabama North Central were all on hand, working alongside Chamber Executive Director Amalia Meadows to greet guests, share information about upcoming Chamber events, and make sure every visitor left with a smile and a bowl of ice cream.

Susan Hogeland, our Mayor Stan Hogeland's wife and also our Chamber's Treasurer, drew consistent crowds with her incredible balloon art, delighting children and adults alike throughout the evening.

Behind the scenes, Chamber Vice President Georgiann Pickens was the organizational force that made the entire evening run without a hitch. Meadows was direct in her praise.

"Georgiann Pickens made this happen," Meadows said. "The evening was flawless because of her. That kind of quiet, behind-the-scenes leadership is exactly what the Chamber is built on."

A Year of Free Pizza — and One Very Lucky Winner

The Chamber held a One Year of Free Pizza Raffle, generously sponsored by Papa Johns Alabama North Central, with the drawing livestreamed by Executive Director Amalia Meadows the following day. The winner — Nancy Wheeler of All Temp HVAC — received her prize the following week. In a moment that captured the heart of what community is all about, Nancy was in the middle of caring for an immediate family member who was hospitalized at the time. The prize arrived at exactly the right moment, a small but genuine bright spot during a difficult season.

"We are so grateful to Papa Johns Alabama North Central for making that possible," Meadows said. "And congratulations to Nancy — we hope every single pizza is as good as the night she won it."

Pride in Community. Pride in Country.

For Meadows, the evening was about more than ice cream and fireworks.

As the nation prepares to celebrate its 250th Independence Day in 2026, the Let Freedom Ring event served as a reminder of what American community looks like at its best — neighbors gathering, businesses investing, and a city that genuinely loves itself showing up for one another.

"We got to spend an evening with the incredible people of Gardendale and North Jefferson County," Meadows said. "Hundreds came to visit us. Hundreds more filled that park to celebrate this country. I am proud to be an American — and I am proud to be a Gardendaler."

The fireworks display that closed the evening drew widespread praise from attendees, capping what many described as one of the most memorable Fourth of July celebrations Bill Noble Park has seen in recent years.

The Gardendale Chamber used the Let Freedom Ring event to preview several major upcoming initiatives, including the Medical Mile Health and Wellness Expo — a free community fair and fun run scheduled for Thursday, September 24th at the Gardendale Civic Center — and a series of ribbon cuttings, luncheons, and community events planned for the remainder of 2026.
